This is a great website to practice word work and reading comprehension.  In the reading comprehension students read a short story and then answer questions about the stories the questions include comprehension and vocabulary.

Cloze reading passages are short stories with certain words deleted so that students must context clues to decode or find the meaning from the text.  These technique can be used across grade levels because it will enhance a students ability to anticipate text, think critically and develop vocabulary.
